 COMPETITION NEWS

This page is set up to give competitors the results of every monthly competition that has come to an end in this website and to announce the winner.

MOST RECENT AT THE TOP

Here are the results of the second monthly competition to win a MSI U 180 Notebook that closed March 31, 2015 at midnight.

The winner of the competition is:
Suzanne Heath of Shropshire, England

Congratulations Suzanne! The prize will be sent to you within 28 days of this notification.

The answer to the question is No 2 - She was the Associate Editor and her first husband, Hugh Pollock, was the General Editor.

Now since there were many entries this time round, I've drawn at random three more entries with the correct answer and a consolation prize will be sent to the following names that came up:

Janice Papworth of Colaton Raleigh, Sidmouth
Ms Elaine Denny of Station Road, Penge
and Pete, a member of the Enid Blyton Society and regular contributor to its Forums.

You'll all be notified in due course.

Latest news: The prizes, which have all been claimed, have already been sent out to the winners.

SUSPENSION OF THE COMPETITION

The competition is now suspended until the book Enid Blyton - The Untold Story is published. Then the prize will be a copy of the book. At least three competitors will have a chance to win a copy every month.

No one submitted the correct answer and the competition will now run for another month. The new closing date for the submission of entries is  March 31, 2015 at midnight.

Was the question too hard? Well, if competitors cannot guess the answer from the three multiple choice answers, they can consult the Enid Blyton Society website: www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk and search the site. The answer can be found there. But it will definitely be in my book when it is published.

COMPETITION REOPENS

The competition that was suspended last year is now reopened with a wonderful prize to be won.

AMENDMENT
The Competition Rules have been amended. It will now be a monthly, instead of a bi-monthly competition. As the competition began late in January, 2015, it will nevertheless be as if it had started February 1st, 2015.

Here are the results of the third bi-monthly competition that began in March and came to an end at midnight, April 30, 2014:

To the question: In this website there's a page showing a graphic description of birds. From which Enid Blyton's nature book has it been taken?

The answer from the three multiple choice answers is No. 3: The Bird Book

There were no entries to this competition and the prize on offer, namely, a Kobo Vox Colour EBook has lapsed. The competition is  suspended until further notice.

Here are the results for the second bi-monthly competition that began in January, 2014 and came to an end at midnight, February 28, 2014.

To the question: In 1926 Enid wrote a book for teachers. What is the name of the book?

The answer from the three multiple choice answers is No 1: The Teachers’ Treasury.

There were no entries to this competition. Given that the website is relatively new and still spreading, it will take time for interest in the competitions to be generated.

Luckily, the prize on offer of a Kobo Vox Colour eReader is still available and is now carried forward to the new competition that has already started in March, 2014.

Here are the results for the very first competition that began in November, 2013 and came to an end at midnight, December 31, 2013.

To the question:

What did Enid Blyton's father say when she told him she wanted to give up music to take up teaching?

The answer from the three multiple choice answers is No. 2: At least it will put the idea of being a writer out of your head.

This statement can be found in chapter 13, on page 77, of Enid Blyton’s The Story of My Life, published by Pitkins in 1952. The heading for the chapter is: A Momentous Day and anyone who is interested in the circumstances leading up to her desire to give up music, and her father’s response, can read in this chapter all about it to his/her heart’s delight.

No one submitted the correct answer to the question and the prize, A KOBO VOX COLOUR eREADER is carried forward to the new competition beginning in January, 2014
